About an hour drive. The guide shared some information about Prague and the history of Kutna Hora on the drive. We had time to see the Sedlec Ossuary, shop for souvenirs and check out the area, and then see the church of St Barbara (beautiful stain glass) and explore the old town. We got some great souvenirs.
Kutná Hora was a silver mining town in medieval times: once the second Czech city to Prague in terms of population. Today it is home to about 21000 people. Although Kutná Hora has some comparatively drab modern architecture, it was enscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995 for the Historical Town Centre, including the Church of St Barbara and the Cathedral of Our Lady at Sedlec.
Which is Bigger, Kutna Hora or Brno? Brno has a larger population, and is about 17.4 times larger than the population of Kutna Hora. When comparing the sizes of Kutna Hora and Brno, keep in mind that a larger population does not always imply the destination has more attractions or better activities.
Kutna Hora is a small city about one hour away by train from Prague.People come to Kutna Hora to see the Sedlec Ossuary (or the bone church, the bone chapel, kostnice: it is known by many names) and there is no argument here: I went there for the same reason.
